You can still enjoy the great outdoors despite this period of isolation by camping out in your garden. Yes, we said it, garden.
Nothing beats a bit of time away from the house, but with the UK currently on lockdown it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Whether you’re a keen camper or you’ve never done it before, why not just camp out in your garden?
We know that it’s not quite Snowdonia but we’ve put together a list of reasons why you should give it a go.
Test Your Tent
If you’ve not had a chance to yet, why not take this opportunity to put your tent to the test. Come rain or shine (hopefully more shine), you can see how your new tent performs in the elements. That way, when it comes to the real deal, camping away, you can be fully prepared. Nowadays, all tents are waterproof, but you can see exactly where water becomes problematic (if at all), and make adjustments where needed. Afterall, if it does all go horribly wrong, you can just run back inside.
If you’ve never camped before, now is the perfect time to try it. You may have been too scared of the commitment before, whether it’s a holiday away or a festival you plan on going to, but this way you can see whether or not you are going to enjoy the camping life. That however, will only truly work out if you stick to it and don’t pop into the house every now and again.
Great for Kids
Kids get bored easily, especially young ones, so to keep them entertained why not surprise them with a camping night? It will be something different to do and it gets them outside playing. It also gives a good indicator for parents out there, if they are planning on a camping trip in the future, what types of games and distractions to take with them.
Camping is also great for teenagers, and if they are old enough can actually camp on their own. It gets them away from the screen and into the garden for some well-needed family time. It also gives them some responsibilities like, making a fire, setting up their tent and even cooking.
There is something definitely unique about camping so why not give it a go! It will break up your week and give you the perfect excuse to get out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine.
